Automation of document processes – from scanning to the archived document.
AutoStore enables the flexible modeling and automation of document-centric processes. Documents are captured from various sources, processed, enriched with information, and reliably transferred to the desired target systems.
The modular design enables customized workflows while ensuring a high level of transparency and control over the entire processing sequence.
The bridge between document intake and the target system
With AutoStore, we have been successfully using a powerful platform for recording, processing and forwarding documents for many years.
AutoStore boasts a long and successful product history. Originally developed by Notable Solutions and later continued under the Kofax brand, AutoStore is now part of the Tungsten Automation solutions portfolio.
A key strength of AutoStore lies in its modular design. Using the graphical AutoStore Process Designer, document-based workflows can be assembled from individual components and flexibly adapted to a company’s specific requirements.
We view AutoStore as a bridge between various input channels and downstream enterprise systems.
The basic principle is simple:
Capture → Process → Forward
Capture documents from a wide variety of sources

Today, documents reach companies via many different channels. AutoStore makes it possible to consolidate these inbound channels into a central processing platform.
A classic example is capture via multifunction printers (MFPs). AutoStore supports devices from numerous well-known manufacturers, enabling scanning processes to be linked directly to the device with custom functions and workflows. However, other sources—such as email inboxes, network directories, FTP locations, desktop applications, or other electronic input channels—can also be integrated into automated processes.
Automate document processing
For us, the real strength of AutoStore begins after the capture phase.
Documents can be automatically analysed, prepared, separated, merged, converted, classified or enriched with additional information and metadata within a workflow.
This makes AutoStore ideally suited for preparatory processes before a document is handed over to the actual target system.
A simple scanning operation can thus evolve into a fully automated process in which the document is prepared and enriched with the necessary information before reaching its final storage location.
Flexible connection to target systems
At the end of a workflow comes the handover to the desired destination.
This could be, for example, a document management or archiving system, a network directory, an FTP platform, or another enterprise application.
A wide range of existing standard components and interfaces allows different systems to be interconnected. Furthermore, custom requirements can be addressed through proprietary logic and integrations.
AutoStore thus becomes a central integration platform for document-based processes.

Enterprise solutions: more than just document processing
A particular focus of our projects is on an aspect that is often underestimated during the development of automated processes:
A process must not only function — its operation must also be easy to control.
Successfully processing a document is one thing. However, when dealing with hundreds or thousands of automatically processed documents, it must be equally reliable to detect when a document could not be processed.
That is why, in our AutoStore projects, we pay special attention to monitoring, error handling, logging, and transparent operational processes.
Our goal is to develop solutions that allow the operator to see at any time:
- Is the process running properly?
- How many documents were processed?
- Have any documents stalled at a processing step?
- Where did an error occur?
- Can a faulty document be selectively reprocessed?
This transforms a functioning workflow into a reliably operable enterprise solution.
AutoStore as part of Tungsten ControlSuite
AutoStore can be deployed as a powerful platform for document-based capture processes or serve as part of a more comprehensive solution.
With Tungsten ControlSuite, Tungsten Automation combines various technologies for capture, print management, output management, and mobile document processes into a unified solution architecture. AutoStore plays the central role in document and image capture.
ControlSuite includes:
- AutoStore for the collection and processing of documents and information,
- Equitrac for print management, secure print release, and cost control,
- Output Manager for the control and processing of document output as well as
- Business Connect for mobile document processes.
The individual components can be combined with one another. For example, documents from AutoStore can be passed to the print management components of ControlSuite or further processed within Output Manager.
For us, ControlSuite therefore represents an interesting expansion option for AutoStore environments: an existing capture and processing workflow can become part of a more comprehensive platform that integrates capture, processing, secure output, and device connectivity.
The focus of our solutions remains AutoStore: the intelligent capture, processing, and enrichment of documents, and their transfer to downstream enterprise systems.
Experience, integration, and operation from a single source
Our expertise therefore does not end with the configuration of individual AutoStore components.
We combine in-depth product expertise with experience in integration, development, and operations to embed AutoStore into existing system landscapes and reliably automate document-based processes for the long term. If you are looking for a partner who does more than just create a workflow—someone who also considers how that process can be integrated, monitored, and operated reliably over the long haul—we should talk.
