AI-powered document management for legal services
NetDocuments combines modern, cloud-based document and knowledge management with the possibilities of artificial intelligence. The platform goes far beyond the classic storage and search of documents and emails. With AI-supported search, intelligent assistants and the new Legal Context Graph, the information available in a law firm or legal department is related to one another and made usable for daily work. This creates an intelligent knowledge platform from a classic document management system that not only answers “Where can I find the document?”, but also “What is relevant in this mandate, what has changed and what context do I need to know?”
NetDocuments creates the foundation for securely preserving an organization’s knowledge—accumulated over many years—while simultaneously making it more efficiently usable through modern AI tools.

Document management rethought – with AI and the context of your law firm
With NetDocuments, we offer law firms and legal departments in particular a modern, cloud-based platform that combines classic document and knowledge management with the possibilities of artificial intelligence.
For companies ready to move towards a fully web-based and hosted document management solution, NetDocuments offers a powerful platform for shaping the future digital workplace.
In doing so, NetDocuments now goes well beyond the classic functions of a mature document management system.
Legal Context Graph – from document to complete context
One of the most exciting developments is the Legal Context Graph.
Traditional document management systems primarily answer the question: Where is the document located?
The Legal Context Graph goes a crucial step further, helping to answer questions such as: What is relevant in this matter? What has changed? How is the information interconnected—and what do I need to know right now?
To this end, documents are no longer viewed in isolation. Processes, documents, communications, the individuals involved, activities, legal contexts, and permissions are linked to one another.
This creates a current and coherent view of a case or project.
Get started on a case more quickly
Familiarizing oneself with an extensive matter from scratch can entail a significant amount of work, particularly in the day-to-day practice of law.
- What persons are involved?
- Which documents are relevant?
- What’s the last thing that happened?
- Which dates play a role?
- What information has changed?
Instead of laboriously piecing together these connections from numerous documents and emails, the user can gain an overview of the current status much more quickly using the Legal Context Graph.
This is not a static summary. The context evolves along with the process; for instance, if new documents are added or relevant information changes, these updates are incorporated into the available context. In this way, traditional document management is increasingly evolving from a “system of record” into a “system of understanding.”
AI works with your organization’s knowledge.
This approach becomes particularly interesting in connection with artificial intelligence.
An AI is only as helpful as the context it receives for a given task. This is precisely where we see a key strength of NetDocuments.
Instead of repeatedly providing individual documents manually for an AI query, the AI can access the relevant knowledge base within the NetDocuments environment—specifically the content authorized for the respective user.
This allows results to be based on the organization’s own document repository, existing precedents, and the knowledge accumulated by the law firm or legal department over many years. At the same time, existing permissions, information barriers, and governance requirements remain an integral part of accessing this information.
AI-powered workflows
Furthermore, NetDocuments offers various ways to integrate artificial intelligence directly into legal workflows.
For example, AI can help you …
- to summarize extensive documents
- analyze contract contents,
- identify relevant clauses and risks,
- structure and prepare information from documents,
- find existing knowledge and comparable processes, or
- automate recurring work steps using AI-powered workflows.
What is crucial for us is this: AI should not work separately from existing company knowledge, but rather make this knowledge usable in a targeted and controlled manner.
Protecting corporate knowledge while making it usable
The use of public AI tools raises important questions regarding data protection, information security and governance, especially when it comes to confidential client and company information.
Therefore, the introduction of AI should not begin exclusively with individual tools and isolated experiments.
NetDocuments takes a different approach: AI is brought to the protected corporate knowledge—not corporate knowledge to the AI in an uncontrolled manner.
The existing document repository remains part of the controlled NetDocuments environment. Access rights and existing security mechanisms continue to determine which information a user or an AI application is permitted to use.
This creates an important basis for using the possibilities of modern AI technologies and at the same time protecting the knowledge your organization has built up over the years.
Together, we are shaping the web for an AI-powered law firm.
Technology alone does not lead to a successful AI strategy.
The crucial question is where artificial intelligence actually creates measurable added value and how it can be securely integrated into existing workflows.
This is precisely the point at which we would like to support our customers.
As a company with an AI management system certified to ISO/IEC 42001, we combine our extensive experience in document management and legal workflows with a structured and responsible approach to artificial intelligence.
Together with NetDocuments, we would like to show our customers a practical path forward:
From classic document management and intelligent knowledge management to a secure, AI-powered work environment.
Our goal is not to use AI at any cost. Our goal is to deploy the right AI in the right place—leveraging our own knowledge, integrated into existing processes, and while maintaining security and confidentiality.
